The good news about computers is that they do what you tell them to do. The bad news is that they do what you tell them to do. – Ted Nelson

1) Back up your data.  Backup your data to a USB thumb drive, an external hard drive or even to DVD (we do not recommend backing up to DVD, it’s easier and faster to create a backup on the other types of media).

2) Run Disk Cleanup – Disk cleanup will remove temporary files, compressed old files, offline web pages, downloaded file programs and empty the recycle bin. Here’s how to get that done by going to Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Disk Cleanup.

3) Delete & Organize Files – You’ve probably created or added plenty of files throughout the month, so go through your files and clean them up. Remove any files you don’t need and organize the ones you do so they are easily accessible for later use.

4) Uninstall Unused Programs –  Remove any that you don’t need.  TO uninstall a program go to Start-> Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> Double click the program that you would like to uninstall.

i-changed-my-password5) Change your passwords – It’s good practice to change your passwords on a regular basis, especially for banking and credit cards.
